Trunk line network

Updated bus network with added trunk lines brought Föli into a new era 1 July 2025

With the update, the entire bus network within Turku has been renewed, both the routes and the numbers of the lines.

The basis of the new bus network is formed by the trunk lines, after which the update is named: trunk line network. The new trunk lines will run more frequently than other Föli traffic.

In addition to the trunk lines, there are many other lines designed to support the trunk lines. School buses continue to operate, as do the internal lines in neighboring municipalities as well as regional lines.

The entire trunk line network on the map

Follow the link to see, what the whole trunk line network looks like, now that it has started operating on 1 July 2025. In addition to the new trunk lines, there are many other lines operating, that are designed to support the trunk lines.

How do I use the map?

Once the link is open, you can click on the eye icon in the "All lines" column to see the entire line list. You can also hide all lines by pressing the same icon, and view individual lines by pressing the eye icon for that specific line.

The map can be zoomed in and out. Zooming in is useful if you want to view routes in more detail. By zooming the map you'll also be able to see stops along the route.

What will change?

  • Inner lines in Turku; many new routes and options for routes!
  • Numbers for bus lines
  • Summer timetables will be in effect only during school summer holidays; no more two separate summer timetables
  • About 20% more traffic
  • Improved accesibility in the Turku region
  • Servicelines will operate with regular city buses

What stays the same?

  • School lines will still be operating
  • Night traffic will still be operating between Fri-Sat and Sat-Sun nights
  • Line 100 will still take you to events like before
  • Inner lines for neighboring municipalities; routes and numbers
  • Regional lines; routes and numbers

Timetables, timetable booklet and stop-timetables

Föli buses operate on two separate schedules; regular and summer.

The regular schedule will always be in effect from August up until next year's June. Summer schedules will only be in effect during school summer holidays (June to August). This means, that buses will no longer operate with two separate summer schedules. The current line network will operate with separate summer timetables (2 June - 30 June) before the trunk line network starts on 1 July.

A printed timetable booklet is available. It includes both the summer schedules and the upcoming regular schedules, which means that the booklet will be in effect from 1 July 2025 up until 31 May 2026.

Timetables on all the stops will be switched in the end of June and in the middle of august. Timetables will also be uploaded in PDF-format here (Opens in a new tab).

Timetables will also be updated in the journey planner during each schedule change.

Schedules will change, as following:

Summer schedule: 1.7. - 10.8.

Regular schedule: 11.8.2025 - 31.5.2026

  • Development of public transport service levels
  • Upgrading of customer information, stop information and bus fleet

Trunk line reform planned with the tramway in mind

Concurrent with the trunk line reform, Turku is in the final planning phase of the tramway before its possible construction. The City Council will make the final investment decision based on the tramway implementation plan, more detailed impact assessments and the confirmed cost estimate. According to current estimates, the investment decision could take place in late 2025.

Föli's trunk line reform meets the demand for public transport today, as the tramway will in the future. As the population increases, the frequency of the trunk lines cannot be increased sufficiently without causing congestion. Trunk line reform has been planned with the tramway in mind. Changes to trunk lines, such as new bus stops, will remain as they are, even if the decision is made to build the tramway.
