Disabled people

The discount is granted to disabled persons whose municipality of residence is Turku, Kaarina, Raisio, Lieto, Naantali, Paimio or Rusko.

Eligibility for the discount requires a doctor’s certificate to be included with the Föli application form, which can be printed out from the website or obtained at a service point.

The card options are the value card and season ticket. The student discount does not cover single tickets.

The discount card can be obtained at any service point. The empty card costs €5,20.

How is the discount granted?

Change to disability discount terms 1 October 2025

Starting from 1 October 2025, the disability discount can be applied for with the EU Disability Card.

Until the end of 2025, the disability discount can also be applied for with Föli’s disability application form, which can be printed via the link below or collected from a service point. Discounts granted with the application form are valid until 31 December 2026.

How to get the EU Disability Card?

The EU Disability Card is applied for through Kela.

The discount period is loaded onto Föli’s travel card according to the validity of the EU Disability Card. The EU Disability Card is valid for a maximum of 10 years at a time, and the discount must be renewed at the service point when the card’s validity expires.

You can find more information about the EU Disability Card and how to apply for it here (Opens in a new tab).

Accessibility

Almost all buses operated by Turku Region Public Transport are low-floor buses. There are no steps between the front entrance and the entrance in the middle of the bus, which makes it easier for passengers to board the bus and move around inside.

All buses include seats that are reserved for the elderly and people with reduced mobility. These seats are located at the front of the bus. If necessary, passengers may also exit the bus via the front entrance.

Travelling on a bus with a walker or wheelchair

Persons seated in wheelchairs and their escorts may travel free of charge. The escort of a person who has a disability travel card entitling them to an escort may also travel free of charge.

Customers who use a walker may travel on Föli buses and water buses free of charge during daytime rate hours, i.e. Monday to Friday 9 am–12:59 pm. However, the buses cannot be guaranteed to have enough space even during the day. The rate charged is defined based on the actual time of stepping onto the bus; not based on the scheduled departure of the bus or the estimated bus stop timetables. Therefore, if a bus is late and arrives at a stop after the free travel period, the normal rate must be paid.

Right to an escort

An escort may travel free of charge when performing escort duties if the person being escorted has a Föli value or season card for persons with disabilities that includes the right to an escort. The escort right is registered on the personal Föli card at the service point either on the basis of the application form (with a doctor’s note on the need for an escort on the form) or, starting from 1 October, also on the basis of the EU Disability Card if the card has an A marking.

No fare is charged for a person travelling in a wheelchair or their escort.
