Föli public transport operations were launched in Turku, Kaarina, Raisio, Naantali, Lieto and Rusko on 1 July 2014. Up to 100,000 daily trips are made on Föli, and customer satisfaction has remained high in the years that followed.
Since the service was launched the area has remained unchanged until exactly ten years later, 1 July, 2024, when the Föli area expands to Paimio. The City of Paimio joined Föli at the beginning of 2024 and the shared transport will begin in July. Föli tickets will be valid on Paimio public transport from the beginning of July.
-“We warmly welcome Paimio to Föli! The entire area of seven municipalities, has the same ticket prices and flat rates, which means that the prices are the same regardless of the length of the ride. For example, contactless payment can be used to pay the fare. It is important for us at Föli for bus travel to be easy and smooth”, says Public Transport Director Sirpa Korte.
The Turku Region Public Transport Committee decided on 9 November 2022 to accept the application submitted by the City of Paimio to join Föli. The application was preceded by a study conducted by Regional Public Transport and Ramboll Finland on the expansion of Föli, examining if Paimio, Parainen, Masku, Nousiainen, and Mynämäki could join the authorized area of the public transport authority of the Turku Region.
