Föli's frequently operated trunk lines will start and the entire Turku inner-city transport will be renewed on July 1 2025.
The biggest change in the history of Föli will take place in July this year, when the new trunk lines will start operating with numbers 1-10. At the same time, the whole of Turku's internal transport will be renewed, as the line numbers and routes will change and stop infrastructure will also be updated. The new trunk line network will increase the Föli traffic by around 20%. In this article, we will briefly introduce each trunk line!
The new network is called the trunk line network precisely because it's basis is the new trunk lines that run more frequently than other lines. To see the other lines in the trunk line network, such as night lines, school lines and connecting lines, go to: föli.fi/en/trunklines (Opens in a new tab).
Trunk lines:
1/1A Harbour-Airport (1A: Port-Turku bus station)
Trunk line 1 will continue to run between the harbour and the airport on it's familiar route. The shortened route 1A will run from the harbour via Turku bus station during peak hours. The colour of the line is light blue.
2 Kohmo-Market square-Nättinummi-Mylly
Trunk line 2 starts from Kohmo and runs through Hannunniitu and Nummi to the market square. From there, the line continues along Satakunnantie via Nättinummi to IKEA in Raisio and Mylly. The colour of the line is pink.
3/3A Varissuo-Market square-Perno (3A: Varissuo-Raisio)
Trunk line 3 follows the route of the old 42 line from Varissuo via Kupittaa and Iso-Heikkilä to Perno shipyard. Route 3A diverges after the market square, and follows Satakunnantie to Raisio and continues through the centre of Raisio. The colour of the line is purple.
3A will start operating on 11 August.
4 Varissuo Itäkeskus-Skanssi-Halinen
Trunk line 4 runs from Varissuo Itäkeskus to Skanssi and via Vasaramäki to the market square. After that, trunk line 4 continues through Raunistula and via Vanhan Tampereentie to Halinen. The colour of the line is light green.
5/5A Student village-Market square-Haarla (5A: Market square-Haarla)
The trunk line 5 follows partly old 50-line routes from the student village through Martti to Hirvensalo. The shortened route 5A runs between the market square and Haarla. The colour of the line is orange.
5A will start operating on 11 August.
6/6A Lieto-Turku-Naantali (6A: Kaarina-Naantali)
Trunk line 6 follows the familiar route of the old line 6 from Lieto to the centre of Naantali. Trunk line 6A goes between the centre of Kaarina and Naantali, alternating with trunk line 6. The colour of the line is green.
8 Runosmäki-Harittu
Trunk line 8 is a continuation of the old line 18; the route remains the same but the line number changes. This popular line has a maximum waiting time of only 5 minutes during weekday rush hours. The colour of the line is red.
9/9A Uittamo-Härkämäki (9A: Uittamo-Suikkila)
Trunk line 9 runs from Katariinanlaakso through Uittamo, Ispoinen and Martti to the market square. The line continues past Logomo and through Kähäri, from where trunk line 9 continues to Härkämäki, and 9A to Suikkila. The colour of the line is light lilac.
10/10A Uittamo-Skanssi-Kupittaa-Länsikeskus-Harbour (10A: Uittamo-Skanssi-Kupittaa-Mylly-Raisio-Perno shipyard)
The new ring line 10/10A is one of the best additions in the trunk line network! The ring line will bring many new travel options, and will make line-to-line transfers easier.
Ring line 10/10A runs from Uittamo to Kastu via Skanssi, Kupittaa and Halinen. From there, line 10 continues to Länsikeskus and the harbour, while 10A continues via Runosmäki and Raisio to Perno shipyard. The colour of the line is dark blue.
