How do I end my Föli bike rental?

You end your rental using the Donkey Republic app. See where you can return the Föli bike by clicking on the ‘drop-offs’ button on the upper left side of the app.
Note: The drop-off locations are not always exactly the same as the pick-up points.

How to return the Föli bike:
1. Open the application and press the drop-offs button. The application will direct you to the nearest drop-off location. You can also select the desired drop-off location yourself.
2. The app uses your phone’s GPS tracking to identify when you are in the drop-off location and the ‘end rental’ button turns green. Tap that button and close the bike lock with your hand when the application asks you to lock the bike.
If you do not have internet access when returning the bike, lock the bike in the drop-off area anyway. Click on the ‘end rental’ button as soon as your phone is online again.

How to return the Föli bike remotely if you forgot to end your rental earlier:
1. Press the ‘return’ button. Select ‘end rental’ and confirm your selection with the ‘continue’ button
2. The app will ask you where you have returned the bike. Mark the location of the bike on the map by moving the map view to the correct location. Click on the ‘send location’ button.
After this, you can choose from two options. This depends on whether you left the bike in the drop-off location or some other location.

First scenario: Parking the bike to a drop-off location
1. Once you have submitted the bike's location, the app will try to make a connection with the bike but this will fail as you are no longer nearby it. After the failed attempt, you must press the ‘retry’ button.
2. The app provides the option to end the rental without a connection to the lock with the “End anyway” option.

Second scenario: Leaving the bike outside a drop-off location.
1. Users are responsible for returning the rental bikes to the drop-off areas as part of the service. If you leave the bike somewhere else, our staff will have to look for the missing bike. This results in a minimum of EUR 5 additional cost for the person renting the bike depending on the distance to a free drop-off location. If you would like to leave the bike outside a drop-off location, click on the “End anyway” button.
2. The application attempts to make contact with the lock but fails. Select ‘try again’.
3. After this, the application provides the opportunity to stop the rental without a connection to the lock. Click on the “End anyway” button.

We recommend using bike racks and the chain connected to the bike whenever possible. The chain can be used when the bike is unlocked. To operate the chain lock, insert the end of the chain lock into the appropriate slot before pushing the lock closed and locking the bike using the application.
