Why do the buses not follow the timetables presented on bus stops?

The printed timetable at the bus stop tells the estimated departure time of the bus. In reality, the bus might arrive at the bus stop somewhat earlier or later. Therefore it is important for the passengers to arrive early at the bus stop. Departure times from the final stop and the Turku city centre are always valid, and the bus is not allowed to depart from these stops earlier. Some long-distance lines (for example line 99) have timing points where buses can wait until they depart according to the scheduled timetable.
