More and more events are joining in the scheme to include public transport tickets in event tickets. This autumn, Linnateatteri and Turku Philharmonic Orchestra will be starting ticket cooperation with Föli. In addition to this, the cooperation started one year ago with Turku City Theatre is set to continue. The joint ticket is intended to encourage event-goers to use public transport.

No need for a separate bus ticket

Föli and Turku City Theatre started their joint ticket pilot in the autumn of 2018, and the pilot year has proved that the cooperation is worthwhile. As a result, the joint tickets will be available at least until spring 2020. The successful joint tickets were quickly adopted for other events, too, and during the past year, the joint ticket has been used for the TFO at the shipyard! festival and the Turku Music Festival, among others. At the beginning of the autumn season, the joint tickets will be available for tickets to Linnateatteri and Turku Philharmonic Orchestra.

“We are glad to start cooperation with Föli. We want to make sure that theatre-goers find it easy to come to the theatre and we want to encourage our customers to use public transport, the green choice. Furthermore, the location of Linnateatteri in the heart of Turku as well as the summer location of the theatre in the Ruissalo Boatyard are not the most convenient places for arriving by car, which is why we recommend jumping aboard Föli to ensure a relaxing theatre experience,” says Producer Annukka Vauhkonen, who is in charge of Linnateatteri marketing.

The Turku Philharmonic Orchestra already started cooperation with Föli in May of this year, as the tickets to the TFO at the shipyard! festival held at the Ruissalo Boatyard included a public transport ticket. In addition to buses, customers arrived at the concert using the Föli waterbus, which runs to the Ruissalo Boatyard in addition to Pikisaari in Hirvensalo and Ruissalo Kansanpuisto.

“It is important for TFO to find environmentally friendly solutions in their operations and encourage the audience to make sustainable choices when it comes to consuming art. The Föli ticket is especially convenient for those visiting Turku Concert Hall, as many public transportation buses pass Puutori or run near it, and there is limited parking. The joint ticket piloted at the TFO at the shipyard! event was a success!” says Chief Executive of the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra Maati Rehor with a smile.

Tickets to Turku City Theatre performances, TFO concerts and Linnateatteri performances all double as Föli tickets 3 hours before and 2 hours after the event in question. Each ticket can be used for a total of four trips, meaning that you can transfer between buses once each way, if necessary. The ticket is simply presented to the reader device in the bus, which scans the barcode on the ticket. No separate ticket is needed. The entire public transport area has a flat rate, meaning that tickets are valid in all six municipalities: Turku, Kaarina, Raisio, Naantali, Lieto and Rusko.

Föli employs an ID-based payment system, which enables embedding public transportation tickets into seminar invites and event tickets. The tickets are read electronically, so a travel ticket can be delivered via email or printed straight onto an invitation.
