At its meeting on 25 March, the Turku Region Public Transport Committee will discuss the temporary cessation of the use of cash on Föli buses. The policy would enter into force on Friday 27 March. Handling cash would be stopped for the duration of the state of emergency.

The proposed measure aims to protect the health of both the drivers and the customers. In practice, giving up the use of cash would mean that you would not be able to buy a single ticket or load your travel card on the bus. The trips would be paid for with a travel card, mobile ticket or pre-purchased paper single ticket.

The buses will still be entered via the front door.

Load your travel card online, use a single mobile ticket

Föli travel cards can be loaded in the online loading service (nettilataus.turku.fi), where loading is easy and safe. All you need is your travel card number and online banking credentials. You can still load your travel card at the Föli service and loading points as well. Some of the service points are closed to prevent the spread of coronavirus, but the Föli service office on Aurakatu is open normally Mon–Fri 8 am–6 pm and Sat 9 am–2 pm. In addition to this, there are loading points at all R-kioski shops in the area, for example.

The easiest way to buy a single ticket is to use the Föli application. The mobile ticket purchased from the application is presented to the reader device on the bus and has a two-hour right of transfer like a paper single ticket.

Föli ticket machines offer single tickets and daily tickets, and you can also load your travel card with them. There are ticket machines at the Hansa shopping centre and ICT-City in Kupittaa, among other places.
