Föli’s water bus service begins operation on 21 May – Accessible stops to be put into use in June

Föli’s summer 2018 water bus service will start on Monday 21 May 2018. The water bus will run from the Aura River to Ruissalo and Hirvensalo. The water bus stops are located by Martinsilta on the Itäinen Rantakatu side, at Forum Marinum, at Ruissalo shipyard, at Kansanpuisto in Ruissalo and at Pikisaari in Hirvensalo.

The delivery of the water bus stops’ pontoons and access bridges has been delayed. The pontoons will most likely be installed at least at the Martinsilta stop by the time that the water bus service begins operation, but the delivery of the access bridges needed for the accessible piers will take a few more weeks. Because of this, the service will begin operation using a temporary access bridge, and full accessibility will be achieved within a few weeks once the new access bridges can be installed. Boarding the water bus with a bicycle, wheelchair or pushchair is easiest at the Ruissalo shipyard stop.

The water bus service will be provided with two vessels, m/s Ruissalo and m/s Jaarli. Both vessels are accessible.

Föli’s water bus service will continue until mid-September. The service will operate daily between 21 May and 2 September. In September, the service will continue on the weekends of 7–9 September and 14–16 September.
