Föli is transferring to the new journey planner. A new service based on the national matka.fi journey planner has been opened on the side of the current service. The new service will find routes and timetables within the Föli region. The beta version of the service is available at reittiopas.foli.fi. The new journey planner is based on open interfaces, and it uses the open public transportation data produced by Föli. This allows even third parties to use Föli’s information in their applications.

The new journey planner works on any device, and usability on mobile devices has been considered in particular. For example, the device utilises the positioning feature in mobile devices, showing the real-time traffic situation on all stops in the vicinity. It will also remember the previous searches, which simplifies searching for timetables on the stops that the customer uses frequently. The service utilises the Open Street Map base map.

The current journey planner will remain available in its current location for the transition period. The reform does not affect any of Föli’s other digital information services. Stop-specific timetables can, even in the future, be found easily at omatpysakit.foli.fi and aikataulut.foli.fi. Renewing the Föli journey planner is part of the City of Turku’s actions aiming towards open data. The reform will be carried out as part of the spearhead project Open data and interfaces.

Command the new journey planner!

The new journey planner builds everything on the location of the user. By allowing positioning on your device, you can at one glance see the upcoming departure times of buses on the nearest stops, in real time. So, you may not need the route search at all. Once the journey planner has your location data, or you have entered your departure point, you can search for a route to your destination. You can enter any departure point, and the point can be changed later. The most frequently used places are shown on your screen when you use the journey planner in the future.

You can also add an address by clicking and holding the location on the map, or selecting ‘Route from here’ or ‘Route here.

Schedules and routes easy to find

You can search for timetables or routes by entering the line in the search field and selecting the ‘Information about line or stop’ tab. View the route on the map, along with the stops, by clicking on the line. Stop-specific timetables are available on the Timetables tab.

The journey planner supports the use of favourites, which allows for easy access to routes in the future. You can add frequently visited places in the favourites list, and the journey planner will show when the next bus comes to the nearest stop. You can view the routes of all lines, along with their stop-specific timetables, when you click on the line number.

The journey planner works on phones like an application

If you add the page reittiopas.foli.fi on your start screen, the page will work like an application. The start screen settings in most browsers are found by tapping the symbol with three dots.

Development work ongoing

The new journey planner is constantly being developed.

The map data is still to some extent incomplete. The service uses the Open Street Map, in whose development anyone can participate.

You can send feedback on the new journey planner through the Paikalla feedback service.
